Jorge Martin will have a fourth MotoGP event on the sidelines after doctors advised him to suspend round 6 of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship season, the Italian MotoGP at Mugello.
The Spaniard, one of three rookies on the MotoGP 2021 grid, suffered a number of fractures when he crashed during FP3 at Portimao. On the descent at Turn 7, Martin’s aggressive fall through the gravel bed led to the injuries and a longer downtime./
While hoping to be back on the Pramac Ducati for this weekend in Tuscany, Martin will aim for round 7 in Catalonia-Barcelona instead.

Since Tito Rsbat, Martin’s deputy for the Spanish and French MotoGP, is signed up for the opening round of the 2021 WorldSBK Championship this weekend, Ducati has called back veteran test rider Michele Pirro instead to get active again.
Although he has not competed full-time in MotoGP since 2012, Pirro makes regular wildcard appearances over a season with Ducati. He took part in two races for Pramac as a replacement for the injured Pecco Bagnaia.
“After listening to the doctors’ opinions and considerations, Jorge Martin will be back in time for the Catalonia Grand Prix,” said a team statement.
“The Spaniard’s conditions are undoubtedly improving, but getting back to Mugello in time doesn’t seem like the best option as this track is so tough and demanding.”
Although he has only started two MotoGP races so far, Martin has already made headlines with his pole position, his long stint at the front and a possible third place in the second round in Qatar.
