JACK Miller joked that he was starting to feel like a foreign diplomat.

After all, you don’t meet Pope Francis every day at a private reception in the Vatican – and give him a racing helmet.

Australian Pramac Ducati rider was part of a delegation of MotoGP luminaries to meet the Pope ahead of the San Marino and Rimini Grand Prix at Misano this weekend Ezpeleta and Paolo Simoncelli, father of the late MotoGP star Marco.

“It was an unreal once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Miller said.

“It was nice to have a few words with him and it was quite funny – he joked that he was wearing the helmets and I think it would look pretty funny for the Pope to drive around with a helmet on.

“Sure, today is a unique opportunity. My first time in the Vatican to meet the Pope is definitely something to tell your kids about and seeing everything in the catacombs, the tour was amazing.

“We got to meet the Thai Prime Minister earlier this year, I was lucky enough to be a part of it, and now the Pope… I feel a bit like an Australian diplomat.

“I have to go home, down to Canberra and chat with them!”
