“Everyone says Ducati is fantastic, but titles that were only achieved with Casey Stoner” – Alberto Puig

With the Desmosedici, Ducati has one of the most balanced motorcycles in the starting field, as riders like Jack Miller, ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia or Jorge Martín, all winners on the Italian bike this season.

Others like Enea Bastianini or Johann Zarco have already done faster laps, not to mention the eight pole positions that Desmosedici achieved this season with three different drivers.

Repsol Honda Team Manager Alberto Puig has now made statements to Motorsport.com about the much-touted success of the Borgo Panigale plant and used the opportunity to give the Italians a “kick”:

  • When a rider is good and developing, it is up to them to decide where to compete. Today it is true that the policies that KTM is promoting are very valuable. They have a promotion championship and a lot of good drivers come out of it. KTM takes advantage of them and places them in their teams. But you don’t have to do anything in advance, you have to look at who wins and how often they win. Ducati has a bike that everyone says is fantastic, but their last world championship was won by [Casey] Stoner a long time ago.
