Mixed luck for the Repsol Honda Team in Assen on Friday

A conservative Marc Marquez finished the opening day in Assen in seventh place after suffering a serious fall in FP1. Jorge Lorenzo had to withdraw from the Dutch GP.

At the 2019 Dutch GP, the cool morning action gave way to a warm run in the afternoon. Marc Marquez started the day with sixth place in Free Practice 1. The reigning MotoGP world champion improved his time by over a second and finished the day in seventh place overall. Again the top ten pace was within a second and Marquez remains confident in his approach on Sunday.

Jorge Lorenzo’s Dutch GP was unfortunately canceled due to a fall at Turn 7 in Free Practice 1. The five-time world champion fell badly and suffered a stable fracture of the T6 vertebra. An MRI was then performed, which showed a trabecular fracture in the T8 vertebra and confirmed the T6 fracture. He will soon be traveling to his home town of Lugano in Switzerland.

The race in Assen for the MotoGP class will resume on Saturday, June 29th at 09:55 with free practice 3.
