“It will be important to have a very good performance package to upset Ducati” – Franco Morbidelli

After a year of racing in the Yamaha satellite and works team, Franco Morbidelli will compete in the 2022 season alongside Fabio Quartararo. The Italian is still recovering from a knee injury, so it’s unclear what shape he will be in for the Sepang Tests and the first race of the season in March.

For next year, # 21 is of the opinion that the current package needs to be improved: “The competition is tough, especially from Ducati’s side. They have shown that they can be at an exceptional level both in qualifying and in the race. It will be important to have a very, very powerful package to piss them off.

For the Jerez tests, Yamaha took some news with them to finally implement them on their motorcycle later. Valentino Rossi’s student has tested them and confirmed that there is good news, but says the manufacturer in Malaysia will make further developments.

“There have been some interesting improvements. Since I didn’t have that much experience with the M1, I immediately felt at home on the new bike. Further updates will follow in the Malaysian test. Let’s see if we can take another step forward, ”he told Sky Sports.
