Nakamoto was the figurehead for Honda’s MotoGP project from 2009 until his retirement in April this year, having previously been chief designer for the Japanese manufacturer’s Formula 1 team.
In that time, the Repsol Honda squad took four riders’ championships with Casey Stoner and Marc Marquez, and secured the manufacturers’ crown five times.
Nakamoto’s new Dorna role will focus largely in helping former rider Alberto Puig manage the company’s Talent Promotion department, overseeing the Asian and European Talent Cups and the soon-to-be-formed British equivalent.

“His experience and success are incomparable and he will be a valuable asset to the company and our vision.

Nakamoto was not directly replaced in his HRC vice-president role, with his previous functions now being performed by three people: Naoki Hattori, Tetsuhiro Kuwata and Shinichi Kokubu.
