‘If Yamaha doesn’t fight back in 2023, Fabio Quartararo can say we didn’t deliver’ – Lin Jarvis

Fabio Quartararo signed a contract renewal with Yamaha for 2023 and 2024 at a time when he was leading the MotoGP championship. Since then things have gotten worse for the frenchman, who has failed to defend his title.

Urged to comment on whether there was a regret for renewing with the rider, the team director told Motorsport.com explained that it is important to separate things, since the current condition results from the previous conjuncture and has nothing to do with the two-year deal that he signed last july.

‘I think you have to separate things. The renewal is valid for the years 2023 and 2024 and was based on the planning that we showed you in this process. This year is the second year of the previous contract. If next year Yamaha doesn’t respond, then yes, he will be able to say that we didn’t do our part’, said Jarvis.

Yamaha now has around a couple of months to improve the YZR-M1 after the disappointment on the test day in Valencia, where the previous good signs of the new bike did not manifest themselves.
