Video: The ‘megaphone’ exhaust of the new Yamaha YZR-M1…which turns out not to be

Fabio Quartararo has made his demands to Yamaha to remain in the factory team of the Japanese manufacturer, and processes were quickly set in motion in Japan to accede to the French rider’s request.

More power and top speed are the main requests, with the prototype tested at Misano showing good signs, while the last test of the year, at Valencia, did not have the same optimistic indicators.

Now images have surfaced on the Japanese Yamaha Racing account showing a YZR-M1 with a megaphone-like exhaust that has led many to say this is Yamaha’s latest experiment…but it’s not true. In fact, this version of the M1 was present at a Japanese rugby league round where a Yamaha sponsored team competes.

For the event, Yamaha had prepared an M1 whose aim was to be well heard throughout the sports arena, and it was prepared to make even more noise than the version used in MotoGP.
